About This Project

“Tumbling Petals” is part of my personal jewelry collection. It combines two jewelry mediums — metal and polymer clay.

The centerpiece is a domed piece of pure copper. It has been textured with strikes from a hammer and torch heated to create that spectacular, deep red glow. The center of the dome has a Champagne colored CZ that’s held in a sterling silver setting.

The tumbling petals, magenta and white millefiori slices of polymer clay, surround and fall from that center stone. I created these petals using many layers of clay and reducing them to a single, petal shaped log. Slices were taken from the log to make each petal.

This focal centerpiece is attached to a textured copper washer with a nut and bolt, kept slightly loose so the pendant can move when worn.
